DESCRIPTION: Antimicrobial resistance is a major public health concern that has prompted a movement to reduce the use of medically important antibiotics in food animal production. This daylong symposium will discuss the drivers that lead to antimicrobial resistance from animal food production, the primary pathways of pathogen transmission, the drive to prioritize the use of non-medically important antibiotics and an array of strategies to mitigate antimicrobial resistance.
